Rosella Donaldson

October 20, 1934 - September 15, 2024

Rosella Donaldson (née Bigelow) was born in Buckingham, Quebec, on Saturday, October 20, 1934, and passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the age of 89. She was the cherished daughter of the late James Vennard and Teresa Irene Bigelow (née Newton) and the beloved wife of the late Gordon Donaldson.

Rose was a devoted mother to Irene, David, and Genevieve Donaldson, and was predeceased by her son Floyd. She took great pride in her role as a grandmother to Rachel, Ryan, and Carina Desjardins, and Samantha and Carissa Donaldson-Scharf. Rose also found immense joy in being a great-grandmother to Darien, Mason, Elena Desjardins, and Henry O’Reilly. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Known for her warm and caring nature, Rose had a deep love for house plants and garden flowers, with a particular fondness for dahlias and roses. She enjoyed watching birds and had a passion for crafts and baking, famously making over 10 pies in a single day. She had a special affinity for country music and enjoyed composing her own little songs on the spot. Her keen sense of humor and her ability to know when someone was up to mischief were among her many endearing traits. Her true devotion was to her children, for whom she would do almost anything.

Rose abhorred violence, held her faith close, and was a fervent prayer warrior. Her strength, love for God, and dedication to her family will be remembered forever. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her memory will remain in their hearts always.

A wake and funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 28, at Maisons Funéraires Cadieux. The wake will take place from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with a church service in the funeral home chapel from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A burial will follow at St. John’s Glen Almond. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Rose’s life.
