Roger Cuerrier

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roger Cuerrier on September 2, 2023, at the age of 55.  He leaves behind his wife, Christa McClinton, of 33 years.

Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023, from 3 pm to 5pm at Cadieux Funeral Homes (185 Maloney West Blvd., Gatineau).

Roger appeared tough on the outside but he was very compassionate and empathetic, taking on the emotional challenges of others.  He had a very tender heart; he loved helping people and being there for them.

Roger is very well known for his great sense of humor.  He was never stuck without a joke or a wise crack under any circumstances, always in good fun and sometimes to lighten the mood in difficult situations.

Roger had many hobbies, from telecommunications, photography, drones (anything electronic), biking and camping. He took up cooking about five years ago and during COVID he became Chef Roger, as he learned many skills and techniques, sharing his new creations with family and friends, making incredibly delicious meals.

Roger and his mother Jeanne had a very special relationship.  Roger took Jeanne into his home 1.5 years ago so that she could be cared for and be with family.  They shared priceless and precious time together, joking, teasing and laughing so hard that tears would run down their cheeks. Roger loved to cook and Jeanne loved to assist and clean-up.  Roger’s commitment and love to Jeanne was the most precious gift he could have given her and she loved him dearly for it.

Roger and Christa also shared a very special relationship, their love so deep, they were each other’s “love of their life”.  They shared a humour that most did not understand with lots of inside jokes; they treasured these and had a blast. They made lots of beautiful memories together, camping, travelling and just everyday horsing around.

Roger, you have no idea how many people loved you, enjoyed you and your great sense of humour.

You will be greatly missed!

When life seems a blur,
And I can’t quite believe
That I’m living without you
And you were taken from me,

I sit back and think
Of the memories we shared,
All the laughs that you gave me
And the times that you cared.

‘Til death do us part.
That’s true in our case.
I miss you so much,
Your voice and your face.

Time is a healer.
I can’t say that it’s true,
But life does go on,
Which means without you.

When it all gets too much
And I wish you were here,
I feel thankful that I met you,
And I hold you close, my dear.

‘Til death do us part.
That’s true in our case.
I miss you so much,
Your voice and your face.

All I have left are your memories,
cherish them I will do,
but I would give everything I have for one more day with you.
