Buckingham

After a courageous fight, Mevie left us on Tuesday, May 27th, 2025, at the Buckingham hospital, at the age of 82. Survived and missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Gloria Price née Arthur, and his children, Kim (Tim Holtz), Pam (Emiliano Abourahal), Mark (Patricia Renaud), and Brenda (late Joey Berndt). Forever, cherished and remembered by his nine grandchildren, Kurt, Laura (Mathew Shields), Samantha (Sam Warwick), Jason (Kelly Doroszkiewicz), Sean (Emma Havey), Joshua, Noah, Alyssa, and Zane; and great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Theodore, Paige, Erin, Arthur, Florence, and baby Melville, arriving soon.

Mevie was the son of the late Warner Price and the late Ruby Wiseman; the loving son-in-law of the late Newton Arthur and the late Pearl Arthur née Creswell. He was the loving brother of Merle (Raymond Proulx) and Marion (Lee Thompson). Remembered by many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

He was predeceased by his great-granddaughter, Hailey, and by his brothers and sisters, Dorothy (late Nathan Bigelow), John “Jack,” Keith “Ted” (Shirley McGarry), Lillian (George Mears) and baby Frederick.

Mevie was born in Buckingham, Quebec and grew up on the Price farm eventually meeting his wife, Gloria. They settled on the farm where some of his greatest joys came from raising their four children there. They created many memories on the farm working in the hay fields and enjoyed many camping trips to White Fish. A lifelong hunter, Mevie, loved the outdoors and spending time in the fields. Family gatherings at the farm delighted him and he took an active role in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives, always teaching and sharing advice.

A devoted Toronto Maple Leaf fan from the age of three, Mevie loved spending time sitting around the kitchen table with his family watching hockey games together.

Mevie often spent his time with a chainsaw in hand, cutting wood to keep his family warm. No one could keep up with him in everything he did. He was a force to reckon with.

Mevie’s legacy will carry on forever, reminding us to enjoy our moments spent with our families.

A graveside service will be held at the Gore United church cemetery (650 Montée du Gore, Thurso, QC J0X 3B0) on Sunday, June 22nd, 2025, at 2 p.m. The family will receive condolences beginning at 1 p.m. prior to the service. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In memory of Mevie, a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

There are no words that can express how grateful our family is to the neighbors who were there for us during this past winter.

Gloria would like to thank her children and grandchildren for their support and hard work during those very difficult times.
