Eileen Ruby Butler (Nee Gauthier)

Eileen Ruby Butler (nee Gauthier) passed away at the age of 75 in her sleep after a short but courageous battle with cancer (battle she did!) on Tuesday September 13, 2022.

Born on March 8, 1947 in Buckingham to the late Palma Gauthier and Evelyn Bigelow.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Mervin Butler, they were married in a gorgeous ceremony July 1, 1967 (55 years).  Her three much loved children, Connie (Michel Payette), Tammy (Blake McClelland) and Curtis. Nanny to seven adoring grandchildren, Laura McClelland, Rebecca McClelland (Curtis Taylor), Mikayla Payette, Marshall Payette, Julia McClelland (Jacques Raymond), Karina Butler and Kyle Butler.  We can’t leave out her three cute great-grandsons, Jaxson and Maddox O’Brecht and Ethan Taylor.

Predeceased by her sister, Doreen McMahon and her brother Roy Gauthier. She will be remembered by many nephews, nieces, and friends.

Mervin will especially miss his dancing partner. For those of us who were lucky enough to witness Eileen & Mervin’s dancing, will recall their gracefulness and poise as they swept along the dance floor, and never missed an occasion to do so.

Eileen lived life to the fullest; she was always helping others, whether it was taking care of seniors, helping family members, sewing for charity, teaching others about quilting and the list goes on.  We also have to mention her passion and love for genealogy research.

Eileen and family were very appreciative and thankful for all the support, prayers, messages and words of encouragement they received during her battle.

Family, friends and others whose lives Eileen touched are invited to the celebration of life on Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 9:30-11 a.m. for condolences followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m at Our Lady of Victory Church, 490 Charles Street, Gatineau, QC.

Please join us afterwards at Erablière St-Germain, 562 Doherty Road, l’Ange-Guardien, QC to reminisce, grieve, support each other and of course just to chat.

In lieu of flowers, and for support of one of Eileen’s causes that she supported by sewing many beautiful dresses, adorable shorts and tops for little children in third world countries, donations could be made to www.justequipping.org, or to a charity of your choice.
