Obituary

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Agnes Audry Laurin (nee Burns), on May 13th, 2026. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, strength, and kindness.

Daughter of the late Harold and Annie Burns, she was born July 9th, 1941, in Buckingham, QC, and is survived by her beloved twin sister, Erma Smallian. She married the love of her life, Leo Laurin (deceased), and together they grew their family to include Ron (June), Dennis, Bobby (Paco), and Teena. She was proud Grandma to her cherished Leo and Samantha (Zach) and Lain. She leaves to mourn countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. We will miss her gentle personality and find comfort knowing she is now reunited with Dad and her many relatives and friends.

Her greatest happiness came from caring for those she loved. As a dedicated mother and loving homemaker, she welcomed many to her table, not least of all of her children’s friends, whom she accepted into the family circle. Mom’s known for her kindness and life resilience; she spent 84 years cultivating a life defined by love, shared laughter, and enduring bonds built through small, cherished moments.

Passing on the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, she found great comfort and strength in prayer and the love of God. Her gentle spirit, unwavering compassion, and generous heart touched everyone who knew her. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate her life and faith.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Parish on May 20th, 2026 at 11am, 174 Wilbrod St., Ottawa, ON. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Light Cemetery, 1pm, 315 Smallian Road, Mulgrave-and-Derry, QC. Family will welcome visitors before mass, beginning at 10am.

For those who wish, donations may be made in her memory to St. Patrick’s Home of Ottawa Foundation https://stpatsfoundation.ca Many thanks to her numerous caregivers at St Pat’s, Mom’s home for last 14 months. A special mention to Sam, Sarah, Maggie, Criselda, Nora, Suzie, Mary, Vimal, Sister Lina, Stephen, and Claire—for the care and laughter you brought to her days, and to our ours too.
